Jane Anderson was born 1952 in Portsmouth, England and studied at Ealing School of Art and the Slade School of Art, London.  She worked with the Treadwell Gallery from 1972 till 1990.  It is interesting to note how her work developed from the heterosexually sexy drawings and lithographs of the earlier part of the seventies (knickers and boots, striped socks) to the Women`s Issue aware works of the late seventies and eighties (The great “Ironing Board” of 1979, for instance).  At the 1972 Düsseldorf Art Fair, we sold several of her “Boots” drawings to the Italian Establishment art historian and gallerist, Arturo Schwarz,  and The Nationale Bibliotheque in Paris were amongst the many international buyers of her work(Ironing Board).
